Blog Journal Entry Rubric

CATEGORY	4- Stellar work!	3- Nice job!	2- OK, it’s done.	1- Try again!!!
Focus on Assigned Topic	The entire journal entry is related to the assigned topic and allows the reader to understand much more about the topic.	Most of the journal entry is related to the assigned topic. The journal entry wanders off at one point, but the reader can still learn something about the topic.	Some of the journal entry is related to the assigned topic, but a reader does not learn much about the topic.	No attempt has been made to relate the journal entry to the assigned topic.
Organization	The journal entry is very well organized. One idea follows another in a logical sequence with clear transitions.	The journal entry is pretty well organized. One idea may seem out of place. Clear transitions are used.	The journal entry is a little hard to follow. The transitions are sometimes not clear.	Ideas seem to be randomly arranged and there is little or no attempt at organizing thoughts.
Spelling and Punctuation	There are no spelling or punctuation errors in the journal entry. All words are spelled consistently throughout.	There is one spelling or punctuation error in the journal entry.	There are 2-3 spelling and punctuation errors in the journal entry.	The journal entry has more than 3 spelling and punctuation errors.
Language Usage	There are no slang terms in the journal entry. Words are spelled out completely and not written in Internet shorthand.	There is one slang term or word written in Internet shorthand.	There are 2-3 slang terms or words written in Internet shorthand.	There are more than 3 slang terms or words written in Internet shorthand.
Timely Posting	The post was completed for the assigned question by the date and time due.	The post was completed for the assigned question after the time stated, but by the correct date.	The post was not completed by the correct time and date, but a paper version of the journal entry was given to the teacher before the due date.	The post was not completed by the date and time due.

Each blog journal entry is worth 40 points (the points earned on this rubric multiplied by two).
